But the hype proved to be too great - the stories of terrified audiences were just good PR. All I could think about when I left the theater was that I had been taken for a ride. And for ten dollars to boot. I had been suckered in by masters of advertising and I fell for it. Hard.
Now, they are back with Paranormal Activity 2, and today they released the first of probably many trailers - which looks just about as interesting as the first. I think that the sequel has an uphill battle ahead of it. People were either enthralled with the first or they hated it as much as I did. With that being said, the marketing geniuses need to spin something new to grab attentions again or sell the film on the scare-factor.
It will be released on October 22, 2010 - same day as the next installment of the Saw franchise. That's an exciting bit of information for horror bloggers, but to moviegoers, its just another sequel around halloween. Ahh, the beauty of semi-popular horror films.
